If you love Greek food, you don’t need to hop on a plane to Santorini, you can find it right here in John’s Creek! I was recently featured on Georgia Foodies at Santorini Greek Restaurant, and let me tell you, the food was incredible.
I actually visited Greece back in 2017, and this meal instantly brought back memories of that trip – the flavors, the warmth, and the comfort of Greek cooking. It made me miss being there and definitely has me wanting to plan another visit!
The chef, Odis, at Santorini has been cooking Greek food for decades, first in Florida and now in Atlanta. He says people love both the fresh fish and the meats — with standout dishes like whole snapper, octopus, lamb chops, and lamb shank.

Delicious Greek Food I Ate
I kicked things off with some baba ganoush and tzatziki served with pita bread and tomato cucumber salad, such classic Greek foods and a tasty and refreshing start to the meal.

Then came the star of the show: the lamb shank. This was a massive, fall-off-the-bone piece of meat simmered in a rich tomato-pepper sauce. The flavor was incredible! Tender, savory, with just a hint of sweetness that kept me going back for more. On the side, I had Greek potatoes, carrots, and green beans, all cooked to perfection. The potatoes in particular stood out with their classic lemony tang, adding a bright contrast to the richness of the lamb.

Then came the lamb chops, they were seasoned with fresh herbs, and paired with rice. One of the most flavorful bites of the night!

We also tried spanakopita – it was golden, crispy layered around creamy spinach and cheese filling. I remember having these in Greece and… well, this was actually so much better than I remember it from my trip!

The grilled octopus was a standout too — tangy, meaty, and complex in flavor. I love seafood, so this was such a delight to try out.

We followed that with stuffed dishes: stuffed cabbage with lamb and beef in a lemon sauce, stuffed peppers and stuffed tomatoes with rice and meat, and a stuffed eggplant with tomato and rice filling. Each one was hearty, flavorful, and satisfying. I literally couldn’t pick a favorite! It is a tie between stuffed tomatoes and stuffed eggplants for me – as I just love tomato flavor!

And of course, baklava to finish. Flaky with layers of honey – which the chef proudly makes himself! Sweet without being overpowering, it was the perfect finale.
Ambiance
Beyond the food, Santorini Greek Restaurant is such a cute spot. From the outside, there’s even a patio where you can enjoy your meal when the weather’s nice.

Inside, the décor instantly transports you to the Mediterranean with blue-and-white accents, wine bottles lining the bar, string lights, and little nods to Greek culture like the evil eye wall art and playful fishing nets across the ceiling. It’s warm, welcoming, and definitely the kind of place that works just as well for a fun date night as it does for catching up with friends over good food and wine.
The Experience
Filming with Georgia Foodies was so much fun, but honestly, I would come back even without the cameras rolling. The food here feels like a mix of homestyle comfort and celebratory feast. The atmosphere is welcoming, the staff is friendly, and the décor makes you feel transported out of Johns Creek for a while.
