If you’re looking for authentic Korean food in North Atlanta, Jang Su Jang in downtown Alpharetta is one of those places you’ll want to put on your list. Known for its flavorful BBQ, sizzling stews, and classic Korean appetizers, this restaurant delivers hearty dishes with bold flavors.

Recently, I had the chance to team up with Georgia Foodies to film a visit at Jang Su Jang. We dug into some of their most popular offerings, from spicy rice cakes to crispy seafood pancakes, and let’s just say, this spot impressed.

What we ate at Jang Su Jang

When we visited, we tried a variety of dishes that were also featured on Jang Su Jang’s Alpharetta Restaurant Week menu. The best part? You don’t have to wait until Restaurant Week – these items are on their regular menu too.

Tteokbokki (Spicy Rice Cakes)
Chewy rice cakes and sweet potato glass noodles swimming in a bright red sauce. It looks fiery but is actually more sweet-and-savory than blow-your-head-off spicy, with a little kick at the end.

Seafood Pancake
Yum! Unlike the flat versions you’ll find at many restaurants, Jang Su Jang’s pancake is thicker, heartier, and extra crispy on the outside. It’s loaded with shrimp, squid, and chives!

Lettuce Wraps
Choose from chicken, beef bulgogi, or spicy pork, each layered with jalapeño and pickled daikon for brightness and crunch. Messy in the best way possible.

Spicy Pork Bulgogi
Smoky, sweet, and yes, spicy — but in a balanced way. A favorite if you like dishes with some heat.

Charcoal Pork
A sleeper hit. It may look simple, but the marinade plus charcoal grilling packs in serious flavor! This may have been my fave!

Chicken Teriyaki
If you’re not ready for spice, this is your safe-but-tasty option. Not overly sweet like some versions; it’s tender and balanced.

And of course, every Korean meal comes with banchan (side dishes) — kimchi, seaweed salad, japchae (glass noodles), marinated cucumbers, and more. It’s always changing and always fun.

Also – don’t miss their galbi (Korean short ribs) — it actually won Best Entrée at Taste of Alpharetta, and for good reason. Galbi is a Korean BBQ classic made with beef short ribs marinated in a savory-sweet blend of soy sauce, garlic, sesame oil, and sugar, then grilled until tender and smoky. Even if you skip it during a prix fixe menu, it’s worth coming back for.
