If you’re craving dim sum in the Atlanta suburbs, Royal China in Duluth is a must try. This restaurant isn’t just a spot for good food – it’s also a stunning venue that hosts weddings and banquets, with a dining room that feels elegant, spacious, and perfect for large gatherings.

The Space

Walking into Royal China, the first thing that struck me was how beautiful and huge it is. (Totally forgot to take a picture!) The high ceilings, ornate chandeliers, and classic Chinese banquet hall vibe make it feel both welcoming and grand at the same time.

What We Ordered at Dim Sum

We went for dim sum, and every bite was so tasty. Here’s a peek at what landed on our table:

🥟 Xiao Long Bao (Soup Dumplings) 小籠包 – Juicy, flavorful, and perfectly wrapped.

🥯 Char Siu Bao (BBQ Pork Buns) 叉燒包 – Soft, fluffy buns filled with sweet-savory roast pork.

🍖 Steamed pork spare ribs (豉汁蒸排骨) – Classic dim sum comfort.

🌿 Tofu Skin Rolls with Pork 腐皮卷 – Tender pork wrapped in silky tofu skin/ bean curd.

🍤 Siu Mai aka Shumai 燒賣 (Pork & Shrimp Dumplings) – Plump, meaty, and always a must-order. One of my faves!

🍚 Shrimp Rice Noodle Rolls (Cheung Fun) 蝦腸粉 – Tender rice noodles with shrimp tucked inside, drizzled with a tasty sauce. My fave when I was growing up!

🥧 Egg Tarts 蛋撻 – Buttery, flaky pastry with creamy custard centers, the perfect sweet ending. I was SUPER impressed with these btw! They were made perfectly!

Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and served piping hot. Honestly, it’s the kind of dim sum spread that makes you want to keep ordering “just one more.”

More Than Just Dim Sum

While dim sum is the star, Royal China also has a full Cantonese menu with plenty of classics. Think beef chow fun with smoky wok-hei, crispy salt & pepper squid, Peking duck for a special treat, and comforting dishes like BBQ pork fried rice and lo mein. They also serve delicate steamed fish and roasted meats, so there’s something for everyone.

It’s a place you can come for brunch, dinner, or a big banquet—and the size and beauty of the restaurant really lend themselves to celebrations. If you’re considering Royal China for a wedding or large event, just know there isn’t a ton of detailed info online. The best approach is to stop by (maybe while grabbing dim sum!) and ask in person. The staff can walk you through their current set menu packages and recommend options based on your guest count and event style.

Final Thoughts

Royal China checks all the boxes: delicious dim sum, a wide variety of dishes, and a gorgeous space that works just as well for Sunday lunch as it does for a wedding banquet. If you’re in Duluth or around Buford Highway and craving authentic dim sum, definitely put this spot on your list.
