Yesterday we finally checked out Gohan Buffet in Duluth, GA — and wow. If you’re looking for variety, this place does not disappoint. It honestly reminded me of one of those huge Vegas buffets: spacious seating, clean, bright ambiance, and so much food that you almost don’t know where to start.

First Impressions

The restaurant itself is big — open, modern, and comfortable. The tables aren’t crammed together, so it actually feels like you have space to breathe (a huge plus for buffets). Everything was tidy and well-kept, which immediately set a good tone before we even started eating.

Fun side story: we actually tried to go on Mother’s Day, but the line was so long it wrapped around the building. We ended up at Haru Ichiban instead (which we love anyway), but it meant we had to wait a little longer to finally try Gohan Buffet.

This weekend we came back for my boyfriend’s mom’s birthday, and it turned out to be the perfect occasion — the staff even came around to sing for her lol, which was such a nice touch.

The Food Selection

Now for the fun part — the food! Honestly, the variety at Gohan Buffet is kind of wild. Here’s just a taste of what we spotted (and tried):

  • Seafood Galore – clams, calamari, steamed fish, fried fish, shrimp, sushi, sashimi, frog legs, and more.
  • Sushi & Sashimi – freshly made and refilled often – various types of sashimi including salmon, mackerel, squid, octopus, etc. and nigiri and sushi as well!
  • Dim Sum & Chinese Dishes – dumplings, buns, duck, and even some Sichuan dishes for spice lovers.
  • Soups & Noodles – pho noodle soup, egg drop soup, Chinese seafood soup, and other comforting bowls. For the Pho noodle soup you can choose the ingredients and they make it for you. Also, in the dim sum area, there was traditional Cantonese pork rib and corn and carrot soup.
  • Carving Station – prime rib that they slice in front of you, and there was also sausage and ribs there as well – perfect for meat lovers.
  • Salads & Sides – a variety of fresh options for balance. I didn’t do a lot of salad, but I did get me some Chinese broccoli!
  • Desserts & Ice Cream – cakes, pastries, Asian sweets, and tons of ice creams. I even made myself an ice cream sandwich — hadn’t had one since I was a kid!
  • Drinks Included! – Thai tea, soft drinks, and more (no extra charge, which is rare for buffets). I got a Jasmine Honey green tea.

Basically, if you can’t find something you like here… you might not be hungry.

The Vibe

We loved that it didn’t feel hectic or messy — the ambiance was actually really nice. Between the sheer size, the beautiful setup, and the friendly staff, it really does give off those “big city buffet” vibes while still being right here in Gwinnett County.

Final Thoughts

All of us were seriously impressed — I definitely think this is the best Chinese buffet around. We went for lunch, and at about $25 per person (drinks included!), it felt like a great deal for the quality and variety.

If you’re in the Duluth area and craving variety — or just want to go somewhere with friends and family where everyone can find something they love — Gohan Buffet is worth a visit. Whether you’re in the mood for sushi, stir fry, pho, prime rib, or just want to sample a little of everything, you’ll leave full and happy.
